Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 60:
Description
C-18618
c. 1930s–1940s; South Kaukauna Dairy Co. – Kaukauna, WI
Small cylindrical stoneware crock with original fitted lid and wire bail handle, branded in cobalt blue with the iconic “Original Kaukauna Klub – Not Cooked, Never Heated” graphic. Finished in a warm cream glaze with subtle speckling, the crock was purpose-made for storing and selling the company’s spreadable cheese, a regional specialty closely associated with Wisconsin dairy culture. The compact, utilitarian form and bold, reassuring typography reflect early 20th-century food marketing focused on freshness, purity, and reusability.
Shows light surface wear consistent with age, including minor glaze marks, faint staining, and oxidation to the wire bail. No cracks or repairs observed; lid fits properly and graphics remain clear and legible.
