Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 465:
Description
C-19551
Pair of stoneware jug-form vessels featuring classic utilitarian shapes with applied loop handles and narrow pouring spouts. One example is finished in a glossy brown glaze with subtle tonal variation and visible throwing lines along the body. The second example is executed in a light tan stoneware glaze with a slightly pebbled surface texture and rounded shoulder transitioning into the handle and spout. Both pieces reflect the traditional jug form historically used for liquids such as cider, water, or spirits, though these examples likely served as decorative or functional household vessels in the twentieth century.
Shows moderate age-related wear including minor glaze irregularities and surface marks consistent with handling. Felt pad attached to the base of the brown example. No major cracks observed.
