Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 460:
Description
C-19545
Assortment of vintage tinplate toy train components including two streamlined locomotive shells and several freight and tender-style cars decorated for New York Central and Nickel Plate Road. The group features classic prewar and early postwar styling with black lithographed tin bodies, gold lettering, and rivet-style decorative borders typical of American toy train production of the period. The streamlined engines display the rounded Art Deco profile associated with mid-century locomotive design, while the freight cars include both boxcar-style and tender forms with stamped metal couplers and simple wheel assemblies.
Pieces appear to have originally formed part of an O-gauge or similar toy train set. Visible markings include “Nickel Plate Road” on the center car and multiple “New York Central” labeled cars with gold lettering and border decoration
Shows moderate to heavy age-related wear including paint loss, oxidation, and surface scratching consistent with play use. One locomotive is missing a wheel, and one New York Central car has four detached wheels included separately. Mechanical operation has not been tested.
Engines: 8.5” L each
