Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 331:
Description
C-19379
Hand-hammered copper wash boiler of classic oval form with fitted lid and turned wooden grip. The body features triple horizontal rib bands for reinforcement and subtle visual rhythm, while the lid sits slightly domed with a rolled edge and cylindrical wood handle mounted on iron brackets. Side-mounted iron swing handles retain their original wooden grips—one still showing a remnant of old twine tied at the bracket. The interior is tin-lined, now worn thin in areas, revealing decades of honest use. The underside shows heavy oxidation and verdigris bloom, particularly along the seams and edges
Shows age-appropriate wear throughout including surface oxidation, verdigris, interior tin loss, minor dents along the lower body, darkening to the underside, and general patina consistent with prolonged use. Structurally sound with lid fitting properly.
