Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 295:
Description
C-19330
Wheel-thrown stoneware jar with rich dark brown Albany slip glaze covering the exterior. The form features a slightly flared collar rim, double incised bands at the shoulder, and a gently tapered cylindrical body. The glaze presents a deep chocolate tone with subtle tonal variation and natural kiln pooling near the base. Interior appears unglazed or lightly coated, while the underside reveals an unglazed foot with visible throwing rings and kiln wear. A small area of glaze blistering or kiln-related pitting is visible along the lower body, consistent with high-fire slip glazing.
Shows scattered surface wear, light glaze scratches, and minor kiln imperfections including pitting along the lower body. Base exhibits expected roughness and wear from age and use. No visible cracks observed; structurally sound.
