Steel edge-seal container from Standard Oil Company (Indiana) – Chicago, Illinois, marked “STANDARD OIL COMPANY (INDIANA) – SERVICE, ” retaining its black and red banded graphics with torch emblem to center. Labeled 25 pounds, the pail was manufactured by G.P. & F. Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as indicated to the underside, featuring an edge-seal lid construction typical of early petroleum packaging.
The cylindrical form retains its original wire bail handle and crimped rim, with strong remaining lithography. Heavy surface wear, scratches, oxidation, and staining present; structurally intact with aged patina.
