Vertical black lacquered panel featuring a dimensional gilt mother-of-pearl inlay of flowering peonies and two birds in mid-flight. The composition rises from a small ground cluster at the base, blooming into a central peony spray with deeply carved, iridescent petals and finely incised veining. The frame is integrated and decorated with gold geometric border work and stylized corner flourishes, reinforcing the verticality of the piece.
Shows light surface wear consistent with age, including minor rubbing to the black lacquer ground and slight edge wear to the gilt border. Inlay appears intact with no major losses observed.
