Oval form gathering basket constructed from hand-split willow, featuring a tightly woven body with a reinforced rim and a twisted wrapped handle. The weave alternates between horizontal runs and thicker structural bands, giving the form both rigidity and a subtle, irregular texture that reflects its handmade construction. The handle is built from multiple strands twisted together and anchored directly into the rim, showing a traditional utilitarian approach common in field and garden baskets. Interior shows exposed cut ends of the willow uprights, further emphasizing its hand-worked origin.
Shows moderate age and use including surface wear, minor breaks and losses to some willow strands, and light dryness throughout. Structurally sound with intact handle and stable base.
