Multi-Estate Fall 2025 Auction
Lot 335:
Description
Item SKU: C-16055
This pair features two pressed glass "hen-on-nest" covered dishes, one in amber and the other in green. Each piece consists of a textured nesting base topped with a hen-shaped lid, detailed with feathers, comb, and tail. Popular as novelty and functional serving pieces, these dishes were commonly produced in the early-to-mid 20th century by glassmakers such as Indiana Glass, Westmoreland Glass, and L.E. Smith Glass. They were often used for serving candy, condiments, or small household items.
Both pieces are in good condition with no major cracks or chips observed except for one on the base of the green hen’s nest. Minor surface wear is present consistent with age and use.
