c. 1950s-1960s; Royal China Co. – Sebring, OH Matching sugar bowl and creamer set in the classic blue-and-white Currier & Ives pattern by Royal China. Each piece features detailed transfer scenes of 19th-century American life-the creamer depicting a steam locomotive and the covered sugar bowl a riverboat-framed in a stylized rope border. The crisp cobalt printing and balanced proportions exemplify the postwar revival of traditional Americana motifs in everyday tableware. Royal China introduced its Currier & Ives series in 1949, drawing inspiration from the iconic lithographs of the famed New York printmakers. The pattern became one of the most widely collected mid-century dinnerware designs in America.
Both pieces show minimal surface wear and light glaze crazing consistent with age; no visible chips or cracks
