Lot 293:
Description
C-14415
Tribal bronze currency bracelet with geometric engraving. This substantial bronze bracelet features deep incised geometric patterns around its exterior, showcasing traditional West African decorative motifs. Cast using the lost-wax method, the bracelet’s form is thick and rounded, with a wide opening for wear or ceremonial use. These objects served both as adornment and as a medium of exchange, often used as dowry, tribute, or trade currency. The worn patina and rich surface texture speak to its age and prolonged handling, making it a culturally significant artifact and a striking example of ethnographic metalwork.
Heavy patina with age-typical oxidation. Surface wear and small casting imperfections throughout.
Outside dia: 3" dia; inside dia: 2.25"
