Description

C-17625

c. 1940s-1950s; Louis Marx & Co. – New York This tin lithographed gondola car was produced by Louis Marx & Co., one of the largest American toy manufacturers of the 20th century. Finished in bright yellow and stenciled "WABASH 80982", it represents the Wabash Railroad, a Midwestern line later absorbed into Norfolk & Western in 1964. Marx offered a variety of affordable, durable O-gauge railcars that made model railroading accessible to families across America during the mid-century. The gondola features detailed stenciled freight markings, pressed tin trucks, and integrated Marx-style couplers.

Surface wear, scratches, and small areas of litho loss are present from age and play, though the piece retains strong display appeal.
