C-17807

c. 1910s-1920s; mfd. by Goldprint Pottery for Mitchells & Butlers Ltd. – Cape Hill, Birmingham, England Ceramic advertising pitcher decorated with a panoramic transfer print of the vast Cape Hill Brewery complex. Bold lettering reads "Mitchells & Butlers Ales & Stouts – Cape Hill, Birmingham", flanked by gold medal award crests, underscoring the company’s brewing prestige. The pitcher’s tapered cylindrical form, with applied handle and pouring spout, was intended for pub service and simultaneously functioned as a striking piece of brewery advertising. Mitchells & Butlers, established in the mid-19th century, rose to become one of Britain’s most influential breweries, their Cape Hill facility ranking among the largest in Europe by the early 20th century. Advertising pitchers like this reinforced brand loyalty at the point of service while showcasing industrial pride.

Shows mild surface wear and light discoloration from age; transfer decoration remains vivid with excellent architectural detail.
