Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 299:
Description
C-19334
Two-tone stoneware jug featuring a salt-glazed cylindrical body and rich Albany slip glazed shoulder and neck, complete with applied strap handle and cork stopper. The front bears the classic maple leaf mark reading “Western Stoneware, ” crisply stamped in blue. The upper section transitions from deep chocolate brown to warm amber tones where the slip meets the salt glaze, creating a natural gradient from kiln firing. The base is unglazed with visible kiln texture, and the body shows subtle throwing lines beneath the surface.
Shows scattered surface wear, minor glaze imperfections, and a noticeable chip along the lower rim of the base. Cork stopper present with visible age cracking. Overall structurally sound.
