Solid hand-carved wooden duck decoy with elongated body, subtly defined head, and extended bill, retaining dark red inset eyes. The eyes appear to be painted or composite inserts rather than glass, set into carved sockets that give the bird a focused, alert expression. The surface shows layered dark paint with significant age wear, revealing earlier tones and raw wood beneath in areas of loss. Carved feather texturing is visible along the head and neck, while the body presents a smooth, functional form designed for water use. The underside bears carved “JT” initials, adding a personal mark and reinforcing its handmade character.
Shows heavy age-related wear including paint loss, surface scratches, small gouges, and scattered shrinkage cracks consistent with long-term use. Inset eyes intact. No visible major structural splits observed. Sold as found.
