c. 1912; Supreme Council, 33° Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry – Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Boston, Massachusetts
Highly detailed engraved certificate issued by “The Supreme Council, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General of the Thirty-Third and Last Degree of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America.” The document confers honors upon Brother Kirby Joseph Reed of Freeport, Illinois, dated May A.D. 1912. The upper register features twin eagles flanking a crowned crest and radiant Masonic emblem, with bold arched typography reading “The Supreme Council.” The border incorporates linked symbolic devices and square-and-compass iconography, while the lower section retains both a gold embossed seal and a red-brown wax seal with impressed markings. Intricate calligraphic script fills the body text, enumerating ranks and degrees within the Rite. The certificate is presented in a dark wood frame.
The Supreme Council of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction was formally established in 1813 and governs Scottish Rite Freemasonry across the northern United States, conferring advanced degrees and honors within the Masonic system.
Paper exhibits pronounced rippling and waviness under glass, with visible creasing throughout. Age toning is present along with minor spotting. Embossed and wax seals remain intact. Frame shows surface wear consistent with age.
