c. 1920s; Sparkler Filters Inc. – Mundelein, IL Stoneware vacuum water filter crock marked “Sparkler Vacuum Filter No. 1,” produced as an early domestic water purification vessel. The cylindrical cream-glazed body houses an interior perforated metal mesh screen that functioned as the primary filtration surface, while the fitted lower spigot allowed gravity-fed dispensing once water passed through the filter medium. The straightforward form and clear labeling reflect an early-20th-century emphasis on sanitation, household self-sufficiency, and trust in mechanical filtration at a time when municipal water treatment was still unevenly adopted.

Shows light surface wear consistent with age, including minor glaze speckling, faint staining, and oxidation to the metal spigot and internal mesh screen. The stoneware body is intact with no cracks observed; spigot and screen remain in place.
