c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Flow blue covered casserole in the "Touraine" pattern.
Produced by Henry Alcock & Co., this casserole form is less commonly seen within the "Touraine" line. Its low, oval body rests on a shallow footed base with horizontal side handles, paired with a domed lid capped by a looped finial. Blurred cobalt transfers of floral sprays encircle the sides and lid, framed by a bold cobalt border softened by the flow blue process. Traces of gilt accent the rim and handles, underscoring its Victorian decorative appeal. Functional yet distinctive in form, this piece highlights the versatility of Alcock’s late-19th-century semi-porcelain wares.
In-the-making chip and a second later chip in the lid. The vessel shows some discoloration and a hairline through the bottom.
