Description
Item SKU: C-17537
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Set of eight flow blue bone dishes in the "Touraine" pattern.
Shaped in the characteristic crescent form, these semi-porcelain bone dishes were designed to rest alongside dinner plates, keeping meat and fish bones neatly separated during service. Each features the blurred cobalt transfers of the "Touraine" pattern, with floral sprays softened into the white body by the flow blue process. Scalloped rims with cobalt borders and traces of gilt complete their decorative appeal. Bearing the Alcock shield crest beneath, this set illustrates both the functional ingenuity and ornamental quality of Victorian tableware.
Chip on the front of one and a chip on the back of another.
