c. 1890s-1910s; Stanley Pottery – Longton, Staffordshire, England
Flow blue oval serving platter with floral decoration.
Made by Stanley Pottery, this semi-porcelain platter features cobalt blue floral transfers softened by the flow blue technique. The scalloped rim is framed by a bold cobalt border with gilt remnants, while the interior blossoms radiate toward the center. Designed for table service in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, such platters were central presentation pieces, bridging practical use with ornamental appeal. The weight and depth of the cobalt wash, coupled with the molded edge, illustrate the high decorative standards of Staffordshire production in this era.
