Group of five large-format commemorative newspaper sections issued by the Chicago Tribune, each featuring a bold American flag graphic with the phrase “a nation torn by WAR” across the lower margin. Interior pages reproduce Civil War-era reporting, including a front page styled after the July 8, 1863 issue, along with illustrated battle scenes, maps of Vicksburg and Fredericksburg, and period engravings of troop movements and naval activity. Produced during the Civil War centennial, these were intended as educational supplements, combining mid-century graphic design with historical content. All five examples are folded as issued, with consistent printing and layout across the set.
Shows moderate wear throughout including edge toning, fold lines, creasing, and minor staining consistent with age and storage. Graphics and text remain clear and legible across all five pieces.
