Large group of 45 player piano rolls, each housed in its original labeled cardboard box. The lot presents a wide range of titles and publishers, with visible labels including examples such as “Silver Threads Among the Gold” and other period compositions. These rolls were designed for use in player pianos, a popular form of home entertainment in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, using perforated paper to mechanically reproduce music.
Condition varies significantly across the group. Boxes range from fully intact examples to partials with only lids or bases present, and some with missing sides or heavy wear. Surface wear, staining, creasing, and label loss are visible throughout. At least one roll was repaired using lined paper. All rolls are untested.
