c. late 19th–early 20th century; American and European manufacture Group of two decorative boxes including a handmade wooden example with applied metal strapwork and central cartouche, and a tole-decorated metal box with gilt interior and repeating foliate pattern in red and gold. The wooden box features a domed lid, hand-finished surfaces, and simple interior lining with inset oval mirror, reflecting small-scale personal storage or dressing table use. The tole box shows traditional painted metalwork associated with decorative household containers produced for vanity or keepsake use.
Wooden box hinge is missing and lid is detached. Interior shows wear, staining, and fabric loss. Metal box shows surface wear, scratches, and finish loss. General age-related wear present throughout.
