Signed in plate “E. Max Leighton” at lower margin with embossed mark present. Presented in a gilt frame with wide mat. E. Max Leighton is associated with romantic, narrative scenes of everyday life, often reproduced as prints for home display in the early 20th century. This composition reflects that sentimental, story-driven approach to figure subjects.
