Description

C-19070

Decorative porcelain pitcher featuring vibrant hand-painted folk motifs and the Hungarian national coat of arms. The bulbous body rises to a flared scalloped rim and is finished with a broad strap handle decorated in alternating red and green brushwork. Around the neck runs a repeating fan motif in deep green and rust tones, while the body is ornamented with stylized floral sprays framing a shield bearing the historic Hungarian coat of arms beneath a crown. Additional geometric and floral banding encircles the lower body and foot, reinforcing the piece’s folk-inspired aesthetic. The base bears a crowned shield mark with the letter "K" alongside the words "Hand Painted Hungary." Marks of this type are often associated with Hungarian porcelain export wares and are considered a secondary decorator’s mark used on porcelain blanks finished by hand in Hungary during the early twentieth century.

Shows light age-related wear including minor glaze crazing and typical handling marks. Two small chips are present along the rim as shown in the photographs.
