c. 1900s-1920s; Théodore Haviland & Co. – Limoges, Haute-Vienne, France Elegant porcelain lidded soup tureen in the Schleiger 349a pattern produced by Théodore Haviland in Limoges. The rounded body is decorated with a delicate border of repeating pink floral sprigs accented with fine green stems, set against a luminous ivory porcelain ground. The domed lid mirrors the same floral border and is fitted with a rectangular gilt handle, while the curved side handles extend outward with a soft scroll form, originally finished in gold. Théodore Haviland was among the most influential producers of Limoges porcelain for the American market in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Schleiger pattern numbering system was later used by collectors and researchers to catalog the extensive range of Haviland decorations produced during this period.
Shows age-appropriate wear including significant paint loss to the gilt handles, along with minor surface wear consistent with use. No major cracks observed.
