Description

C-18763

Group of three antique oil lamps representing a range of domestic lighting forms from the late Victorian through early 20th-century period. The lot includes a tall Victorian example with a cut and molded amber glass font over a milk glass column and square base, a smaller clear glass finger lamp with loop handle, and an ornate milk glass lamp with applied beading, molded panels, and transfer decoration featuring birds and foliage. Each lamp retains its original glass chimney and metal burner components. These lamps reflect the evolution of household illumination before widespread electrification, when oil lamps were both functional necessities and decorative objects. Variations in scale, glass treatment, and ornamentation allowed manufacturers to appeal to different interiors and budgets, from utilitarian bedside lamps to more elaborate parlor pieces. Together, this grouping offers a representative snapshot of period lighting design and craftsmanship.

Condition varies across the group. All three show age-related wear consistent with use, including surface wear to metal components and minor imperfections to the glass. No active testing has been performed.
