Description

C-19051

A coordinated five-piece porcelain grouping featuring hand-painted floral sprays and gilt detailing throughout. The lot includes a lidded sugar bowl with twin handles and songbird motif, a small milk pitcher with matching bird decoration, a pedestal reticulated candy dish with pink rose sprays and gilded rim, a tall Art Nouveau-influenced vase with openwork handles and cascading florals, and a larger cream pitcher with softly molded handle and hand-painted rose bouquet accented by heavy gilt along the rim. The surfaces display a warm ivory ground with delicately applied transfers and hand-finished highlights, consistent with turn-of-the-century decorative porcelain intended for parlor or vanity display. The tall vase features an iridescent wash behind its floral panel and sculptural, flowing handles that lean toward the Art Nouveau movement. The candy dish displays pierced latticework along the rim with gilt edging and rose clusters to the interior. The larger pitcher shows pronounced gilt wear along the lip, while the sugar bowl and smaller milk pitcher retain vibrant bird and blossom decoration. The grouping presents well together, unified by palette and decorative style while offering varied silhouettes.

Condition overall is good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Noticeable gilt loss to the larger pitcher rim and base. The tall vase has a visible hairline and small chip at the rim (see close-up image). Minor surface wear and light staining consistent with age and prior use. No major structural breaks noted beyond the vase rim damage.
