Lot 89:
Description
C-19067
Handled carnival glass bowl featuring molded strawberry clusters and foliage in relief across a scalloped body. The surface presents a dark amethyst base glass with strong iridescent overlay, shifting between bronze, violet, and green tones under light. The interior well is smooth with a circular foot impression, while the exterior carries textured fruit detailing that catches the metallic sheen across raised surfaces. The form includes two opposing applied handles integrated into the rim line, giving the piece a compact yet expressive silhouette. The scalloped edge and stippled background texture reinforce its early carnival glass aesthetic, typical of American pressed glass production in the 1910s-1920s. The dark ground intensifies the iridescence, creating dramatic color transitions across the body.
Condition is good antique condition with visible surface wear and interior scratching consistent with age and use. Minor finish wear to high points of the relief. No major cracks or structural breaks observed.
